| I will be moving my system to another part of the house. I will require more cable now. My question is should I run a whole new cable from the dish to the receiver, or can I simply add on to my existing cable? I am worried about signal quality, and I hope to set up a motor in the near furture. Will the connector between the two cables cause a problem? Thanks |

| Adding to the cable is the easier of the too options for me. But I was worried that sometimes the easy way doesn't always work out well. I guess it'll depend on the amount of ambition I have when it comes time to set up. |

You first should gage the signal strenght you have, versus the lenght of cable you now have. To this factor in the additional lenght of cable you will have, the quality of the cable you are using, and the expected total line loss you will end up with. if the additional distance to youe new location is a matter of a few feet, a connector would not add that much loss in total. If however, the additional distance is appreciable, like doubling the total cable lenght, then a connector will not serve you well. Plus, a connector degrades at a different rate than a whole cable..You would probably be well advised to run a new lenght of high quality RG-6. Then, have a beer. ![]() |
