Default How ancient is the Skyview 500X?

A "family friend" has "kindly requested" that I "repair" their receiver. In other words, it got dumped in my lap, and apparantly I'm supposed to work some magic. I don't know how to do that since I've never actually seen a Skyview 500X before (I'm more of a SonicView person, meself!). So if anyone wants to help me out, I have two questions: How old is this retarded piece of ancient shit? and is there any file for it nowadays?

Btw, I think it's had an improper file loaded onto it because it doesn't turn on. All I can see is the knight rider. Nothing else. Can't even get to main menu to factory default it. In other words, it's in a pretty pathetic condition. Any help on that?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

I loathe old receivers.

I would not waste my time on it. If your so called friend or family want's to stay in the game these days they need to upgrade that dog to a box that has more memory and processing speed. Once Dik is done implementing it's new software a lot of people will need to get new boxes if they want to continue on.Remember, free TV is not cheap!!!

that is just another rumer going around and there is no way anyone right now knows how much CPU and memory a box will have to get dick and B*V up and running again. still, would give me an excuse to repace my viewsat extreme.

i got jipped when i entered the FTA game with a Skyview 500 for like, $180. We got a VS-Pro now thankfully.

Anyways, the Skyview 500 worked the same as the Pansat 2500a, it was a clone basically. So I had a straight serial cable and used the Pansat 2500a clone safe files until the 2500's died.

I don't know how different a 500x is from a Skyview 500, but if it's anything the same; it won't hurt to get the latest clonesafe for the 2500a. It definitely will not autoroll though.
