Well, this dish will be fine for C band and most likely for KU. You must have LNB for C and KU and a dual feedhorn..You can pick up a lot with your FTA receiver. You should check out the American satellites available on www.lyngsat.com.

Just mount a standard LNB , same as you would use for Bev or DN and you will get all satellites available. You have to have a actuator(arm) to move the dish. Any old C band satellite receiver can be used to move the dish to the sat. you would like view. It does take some adjustments to the big dish to lock in to the satellites, but when done they hold very well. You can expect a good signal and rain outs are not as frequent. A mesh dish will work.

I was picking up ku band 10 yrs. ago with a mesh dish. I don't see why you couldn't now. Just gotta have the right stuff.

My 12 ft mesh works great. You can purchase a feedhorn with a hole in it to mount a universal type LNB or you can do what I did and drilled a 1" hole towards the outside edge. While most of the digital channels use 10750 mhz, diclnet and bev uses 11250 so the universal lnb works for both. The picture quality from my BUD blows the little dishes away, especially whats left of the c-band also the quality of the lnb's make a huge difference.
